Why us

Why book a lymphatic massage

The things that matter, short enough to read on a phone.

  • It eases swelling and water retention, usually most noticeably in the legs.
  • It relieves the feeling of heavy legs, typically after a day on your feet or after a flight.
  • It improves how cellulite looks by carrying off retained water and bringing blood to the tissue.
  • It supports the immune system, because the lymphatic system is part of it.
  • It speeds up recovery, which helps after sport and after a procedure.
  • It releases stress and tension. It is gentle and most clients fall asleep during it.
  • It needs no machine, so it suits more sensitive clients too.

How the massage runs

We start by asking what is bothering you, whether you have swelling and for how long, and whether you take any medication or have a condition that would make the massage unsuitable.

We work with light pressure and a slow rhythm, much lighter than in a classic massage. The movements always lead towards the lymph nodes, where waste is filtered out.

We start closer to the nodes and work outwards, so the lymph has somewhere to drain. That is why we do not start where the swelling is worst.

After the massage we recommend drinking more than usual, so the body can carry off what we have set moving.

How the massage runs

What it helps with

With swelling and water retention, mainly in the legs, the ankles and around the stomach.

With the feeling of heavy legs after a day on your feet, after long hours sitting or after a flight.

With how cellulite looks, because draining the water and improving circulation soften the tissue.

With recovery after sport and with general tiredness, when the body needs help clearing what has been left behind.

What it helps with

When not to have a lymphatic massage

With an acute infection, a fever or acute inflammation. The massage would carry the infection further.

With thrombosis and with a serious heart condition.

With an oncological condition, only with your doctor’s approval.

In pregnancy. For pregnant clients we have a pregnancy massage, which is made for it.

What to take home

You can support the effect by drinking enough. Water is the main thing the body needs to drain.

Our shop has a herbal tea for draining the body, with cleavers, birch and horsetail, which supports the lymphatic circulation.

Movement helps too, walking above all. The lymph has no pump of its own and it is the muscles that move it.

Common questions

What people ask us most

What does lymphatic massage do?

Gentle rhythmic movements move the lymph towards the nodes, where waste is filtered out. It improves the flow of lymph, supports the immune system, reduces swelling, improves circulation and eases pain.

What is the difference between lymphatic massage and machine drainage?

Here it is hands on work. The therapist uses light pressure and a slow rhythm and adapts to what she feels in the body. Machine pressotherapy works with inflatable chambers on a set programme. The hands on version is gentler and more targeted, the machine covers a larger area at once.

How long does the massage take?

Sixty minutes. Allow a few minutes more at the start so we can talk through what is bothering you and what to focus on.

Does it hurt?

No. Lymphatic massage works with very light pressure, much lighter than a classic massage. Most clients fall asleep during it.

How often should I come?

For one off relief a single session does the job. With longer standing swelling, or as part of a detox routine, clients usually come in a series, for example once a week over several weeks. We will work it out together.

Will it help with cellulite?

It helps with how cellulite looks, because it carries off retained water and improves circulation. It will not remove cellulite on its own, that takes movement, drinking enough and diet as well. It goes well with anti cellulite massage or with maderotherapy.

Who is it not suitable for?

It is not recommended with an acute infection, fever, a serious heart condition, thrombosis, acute inflammation, an oncological condition or in pregnancy. If you are not sure, ask your doctor first.

What should I bring?

Nothing. We have the towels, the sheet and the products. Come in comfortable clothes and allow yourself enough time.

Can I learn lymphatic massage myself?

Yes, we teach it. We have an in person course and two online versions, including an advanced course filmed with a lymphologist. They are on the course page.
